Bartender Character

Another assessment I had for my second year of my 3D Game Art course for AIE was to make a character and two animations for it using another artists concept design (With their permission of course). For this project i wanted to make a character that would fit inside my previous saloon environment scene so I began my search for different cowboys/girls or bartenders. After a handful of requests I was fortunate enough to get permission from Rach Alderson who you can check out here:

I was really proud of this character and I felt I had greatly improved on my sculpting in Zbrush. This had been my longest project to date at this point and I put a lot of effort into making the characters features look well proportioned and accurate to the source concept art. This project however came into several issues during the rigging phase after using Maya's Quick Rig which caused delays and slowly killed my motivation for the project resulting in the animations being rather simplistic and lacking polish in areas.
For the future, I plan on improving even further with my sculpting but especially with the rigging of a character and better preparing a model for rigging such as the proportions, topology, etc. so I can better display my efforts. I also want to improve on texturing eyes as for this project I mostly disregarded the eyes and later regretted it as it makes the character look less lively.
